I expect they wouldn't pump the waste resource down the same hole they pull the brine from, instead they would pump it away across the other side of the salar.
Adding the water pressure from the waste to the other side of the salar would help in pushing the Lithium rich brine back towards the processing plant.
It may also help in liberating the Lithium from parts of the sands that that were in over-saturation, potentially accessing more Lithium than was just floating in the brine.
I'm sure it has been considered.
