Patterns can be applied to anything. One can often find repetition in something or a loose comparison somewhere to try and define a pattern.

Sadly it's often after the fact that you can see the pattern which is when you scratch around for a comparison.

The only difference between a known pattern and pattern prediction, is the time in which you know exactly what the petter will look like. Sadly prediction plus a historical game otherwise we would know it to be true all the time!
