Assays of hard rock at Monte Alto show very high levels of REE ( URL pg 4 Fig 2 ).
The area is also subject to high rates of weathering ( URL pg 6, Fig 5 ).
Weathering Products in this area have been discharged for millennia through a narrow valley running S to N, then turning E into GMN 872221/2023 ( post ).
The SWIR pink areas along the line of discharge are possibly surficial indicators of products of REE hard rock weathering, for example IACs.
A large pink area in the SE corner of GMN 872221/2023 could be weathering products at the confluence of two drainage areas. However the REE potential in this second eastern S-N discharge is unknown.
