     G’day Tally

    Thats a great question

and yes getting rid of any shortening makes a stock less volatile,

limiting shortening to the asx 200 would stop volatility in the small caps to a point

having said that, companies still only have a certain value as perceived by the public at any particular time.

and there would still be manipulating and sell offs,

perception is at least 80% of the market,

people were crapping their strides in October, because the perception is crashes and corrections happen in October, now people are looking at a Santa clause rally, for late November/December will it happen - I don’t Know,  but perceptions are.

My thoughts on shortening is that it is a destruction of wealth, which can make companies cheap victims, for takeovers, I’ve seen Some good Australian companies targeted, and our government authorities say nothing.

what I do know is that CXO are undervalued, and could easily be snapped up by foreign powers “IF” allowed by asic, we Ozzie’s keep selling our@rses for next to nothing, Tally, I do like your train of thought in limiting shortening to the top 200 will it happen - I don’t know
