Looking beyond the human tragedy, bushfires can sometimes pave the way for new opportunities. I remember the aftermath of the Canberra bushfires in 2003, which devastated 488 homes. Mount Ainslie, once dense with bushland and vegetation and home to just an observatory, was entirely scorched. However, post-fire, it emerged as a premier mountain biking destination. Similarly, potential lithium outcrops, which were previously concealed by thick vegetation, became much more accessible once exposed.
