I wonder if the delay in results and the suspected acquisition are somehow linked. Maybe they found something interesting, but it's right on the tenement boundary. Wouldn't make sense to ask the lab to send you results that would drive up the price of adjacent land you might be trying to acquire. This is pure speculation though and not advice. Hopefully, we won't have to wait until April to find out.
