Operating environments are dynamic. Commodity prices, labour availability, interest rates, availability of capital, input costs all fluctuate over different market cycles.

The main group he should care about are the financiers.
The more successful the drilling, the better the project metrics.
The better the project metrics, the less dilutive the financing arrangements will be.
Less dilution = happier shareholders.
