Poke, does it really matter ? But now your engaged, why are geologists careful about ensuring samples don't contaminated and that chains of custody are maintained ? I understand these samples are many years old, so who knows how they have been kept and whether they are the exact samples taken (ie do they have an appropriate chain of custody?). They might tell something they might not. Wait and see.
