Bouganville is probably a worst case scenario for a PNG mine but ethnically they appear to be an outlier. and certainly different to Misimans

There are many existing gold mines in PNG operated by some big names like Barrick, Newcrest etc. and Misima seems to be in the Top 10 deposits in PNG according to this website:

Apparently there's a population of about 20K and land rights pass down to the eldest daughter.

I get the reservation of sovereign risk but PNG mining is obviously possible so how do you quantify the risk. In Bouganville the risk is clearly 100% but if the risk is properly managed in a 21st Century ESG kinda way, what risk percentile to apply to Misima? It's not 100% and it's a $1B potential asset.
