thanks for the clarification. i make no claims of experience and have only be trading (casually) for a few years.every day that i learn something new is a great day for me.

it is however, the first time that i have have ever encountered a potential 'demerger' situation and i don't know what that means.

from the way you spell it out, a demerger looks fantastic to me.

just to clarify, if i own 10k shares in STB and a demerger happens, that means i own 5k shares in STB Potash in Eri and i own 5K shares in Rosie/Duketon etc(or however the co chooses to carve it up)?

The CGT break would work an absolute treat if i chose to sell.

Can I ask, what's your call on this? i read it that STB will demerge and flog off the Potash, take home a lolly-bag, sit on Nickel/Gold and then greenfield something else with the earnings (or just go home and retire).
