    Phillip,

That is true with most IOCG deposits as the core of it is either massive hematite or Magnetite. The thing one must remember is that it’s with in an intrusive granite breccia, some of these deposits are complex and can be overprinted onto sedimentary units. Olympic Dam has 12 distinct units mineralised with in the deposit. The highest grades are driven by faulting (open spacing) where sulphides can precipitate out where it’s bornite/chalcocite zoning out to Bornite/chalcopyrite and then to chalcopyrite/pyrite.

There are quite a few subsections IOCG deposits, Mt Isa deposits are quite diverse and Tennant creek IOCG deposits are unique too.

If you look at Mt Isa and the Stuart Shelf the IOCG deposits are on distinct major structural trends with deep plutons in communication with deep structural faults where sulphides are migrating through and up through other structures/faults and shear zones. Allowing hydrothermal fluids to flow up duribg multiple major events causing further enrichment of deposits.
