Newcrest is no longer and I'm sure that Newmont would be interested in a deal to expand their holdings in the area, they will get in on the relative cheap as all the initial exploration works have been done, they have the targets just need to drill a few more holes, bit like the former Newcrest did at Havieron very low cost low risk exploration.
