Don't overthink it mate, albeit not knocking you for your level of research, keep it up. I can assure you lithium is what SQM are after and nothing more, rare earths is a distraction for them and trust me they are not interested in playing in that space, these days you have to be an ionic absorption clay deposit otherwise you can't make any money - Lynas who has one of the largest highest hard rock TREO in the world alot greater % than Nolans (Aus company) can't currently compete with ionic absorption clays located in China due to pricing of rare earths atm (Trust me I know lithium and rare earths like the back of my hand and have investments in both, you can have a look at my posting on various investments I hold for your own knowledge of what I look for). Having rare earths within the pegmatites actually make it harder to process and they wouldn't go ahead with the deal if that was the case. All SQM will care about is the following: Lithium that is coarse grain spoudeme, high grade (greater than 1% head grade at the very least) and economies of scale (50 mt and greater) in terms of the size of the deposit. Lithium needs to meet battery grade specification 99.5% and that is what they would be testing in their due diligence, they would have taken samples across the entire deposit to ensure it meets these specifications ( for example having low iron - FE components is one). Lithium is more complex than people think, same with rare earths. These are specialised minerals. Announcement to drop on Monday regarding SQM deal - investors need to start paying up otherwise they won't get stock here, could luck building a large position here without having to pay up, news flow to ramp up over the next 6 months. Cheers, CP.
