Gold mining operations in Australia are a dime a dozen. You’d have to think it’s a long shot that FIRB do anything but eventually rubber-stamp this. The Chinese are the ones offering to stump up the cash (no one else is at this point) and Paulsens is hardly a project of national strategic significance etc. I think this is just government being government, i.e. slow and useless.
Where FIRB did knock stuff back in 2023 was the critical minerals space.
