Actually I think the main reason is a lot of shareholders didn't even receive their mailed SPP offer docs until yesterday, which was one day after it closed. If you didn't do it online you would have missed out, so they are extending it to allow those shareholders to actually participate. But they will scale back offers too, to accommodate the demand.
