Still need to mine the rock, haul to surface (a long spiral incline at Eloise) then crush, before ore sorting (assuming ore sorters at surface) before feeding into plant so by the time you install the ore sorters and feed it the gains can sometimes be marginal. Ore sorters cannot deal with large boulders and rocks. The economics also are affected by what you do with the "rejects" that you have already spent money on coarse crushing, the reject options include resorting or using as waste rock or augment rock fill or paste plants or stockpiling for later but sulphide stockpiles oxidize so more rehandling issues there.

It all depends on where the bottleneck is. Is the bottleneck is development, mining, haulage to surface, crushing or the feed into the mill? Ore sorters only work on some very visual even grained heterogeneous orebodies and are best for Mill Constrained operations where processing costs are high. If A1M get more operations and sources of ore online in the future then the mill might become the bottleneck, then ore sorting by selectively rejecting the gangue minerals might be an option. Ore sorters best for low volume operations where the ore stream is presented as a continuous stream with elaborate systems of conveyors and stockpiles plus the actual ore sorters themselves, all capital cost items. Ore sorters might also be good for dealing with oxide or supergene or mixed type ores to classify into different treament paths but as far as I'm aware the majority of A1Ms resources are fresh sulfides.

MLX had to rebuild its crusher at the Renison Tin mine in Tasmania and is one of the few trials attempted with bulk ore sorters and commissioned in 2019, not sure how it went for them.
