This is exactly right. Nothing more dangerous than an echo chamber of opinions that you only want to hear. I have myself never advocated for silence from opposition, so as to ensure that I am not deluded by my own desires. A public forum like HotCopper is designed for interactions from both those who identify as "held" as well as "not held". Thanks to the posts of @amb005 here on the SRN threads for example, I am grateful for being able to open up my eyes and cut my existing losses before seeing even further losses.
