I've never heard of anything like this mate. As far as I'm aware as long as you were a holder on the record date (6th December) and are in Australia or NZ you should be eligible. Have you logged into your computershare account? (if you have one). I just logged in there and got the Bpay reference number and sent off the cash, was all pretty simple.
Still got a bit of time with the extension. Might be worth giving the company a call or emailing them if you want to participate
