Wangle would be collecting metadata, meaning they would be looking at general trends rather than individual activity. I think/hope at this stage after the debacle with the data retention laws they wouldn't be violating any privacy laws. If this app goes as well as we hope it will then they will have access to valuable information on various demographics and their general activity.
