The language in the announcements says anything but "fail"

"Surprise" non-platform lots are being run that are using more advanced lithographic methods that simultaneously improve the tech. The process window is repeatedly being validated - that's the important thing - they keep fabbing in that window and they get consistent results.

The last Platform lot had a "resolvable technical issue" and even though they couldn't do everything they set out to achieve with it, they still managed to switch within the array. Unless they were directly lying to us and it's not resolvable.

The only lot that had issues that sent the development team back was the very first one three years ago, where none of the wafers were functional - since then they have had repeated success, to the extent the non-platform lots only "fail" because they deliberately fabricate outside the process window.
