Logically, that's what WD should do ... If 4DS is what we think/hope.
There is an all set of events, declarations, legal steps by WDC, Kioxia, the japanese government ... that is suddenly becoming significant, if we think that a cutting edge technology is at stake and a mega industrial project around this technology is ready to go.
But if we connect the dots a bit differently, maybe a completely different design appear. A not so rosy one.
Trying to think about a negative scenario during the last few days, I didn't find any convincing one. But one poster put a new idea on the table :
what if there is some legal conflict ? Something that has to go to a court of justice ?
For example.
4DS and HGST could have a different interpretation of the JDA.
4DS could say that they have the right to announce what they want if its OK with ASX.
And HGST could be trying to block that announcement by a court order to ASX.
I noted that the wording in the TH announcement and in the suspension announcement, is different.
TH :
"...to provide a technical update"Suspension :
"Request a voluntary suspension ... Pending the release of an announcement
regarding a technical update
(Announcement)
So maybe the next announcement is not a technical update but something
about a technical update.
For exemple, the announcement could explain why 4DS is cannot make a technical announcement, because of legal constraints.I think this could be the best conspiracy theory of all.
Why ?
Because of the number of exciting possibilities (exciting from a movie writer point of vue).
My preferred one being that VDH deliberately started a fight that could only end in court.
... And In a court, HGST would have to disclose the reason why they oppose the technical update.
So a litigation started to block a disclosure, could finally force this same disclosure during the judicial process.
Something like a catch 22.
This - very improbable - scenario would suppose that WDH and GA did reach the conclusion that WDC will never let them free, and that they had to break through a wall if they wanted the technology to be known by the market.
