Directors have an obligation to act in the best interests of the company, and suspensions serve that purpose. Yes it sucks being a shareholder in suspension, but ultimately they protect the company (and therefore shareholders by proxy).
Suspensions assist with uncertainty as you have described by they also stop a leaky ship, which is important to the ASX and also the company.
I had a company that was in suspension for 18 months, it just is what it is, it's part of the risk you take on as a shareholder
