For those holding through into pension-phase before selling they'll enter a 0% tax environment and pay zip if they do it right."
The above is my strategy for the AVZ shares held in my SMSF. Been working part time for many years, but planning to fully retire later this year, after which my SMSF will move into pension-phase, and if I subsequently sell AVZ shares the CGT will be 0%. In the unlikely scenario where I sell some of my SMSF AVZ shares before starting the SMSF pension-phase, I will pay only 10% CGT. With either outcome I cannot complain.
