One of the things LT investors have to bear in mind in this country is corruption.  There has been some interesting goings on, which have been documented   For example Global Witness is worth a look...

... In 2007 Global Witness revealed how the Denis Christel Sassou Nguesso, son of the President, was spending Congolese oil revenues on personal luxury shopping. In its 2009 report, Undue Diligence, Global Witness tracked the money flows behind this corruption, exposing how gaps in the global financial system allow banks to do business with corrupt politicians.......

and now of course we have a hint at which banks have been naughty, and no doubt more to come.

According to the World Bank’s Doing Business indicator, The Republic of Congo has one of the worlds most challenging business climates. It was ranked 185th out of 189 countries in 2012 by the World Bank doing Business survey.
