Compltely agree. I have met many politicians over the years: there's not one who'd behave the opposite to what you suggest. Labor (and Greens) politicians in particular love spending others' money, with the Federal Labor government becoming very "good" at that, following the lead of Labor state governments in Victoria and Queensland. (Victoria's basically broke, so it needs EDV's pokies revenue more than ever).
COL reported this morning that its liquor division EBIT was 4.3 per cent.
EDV's was 6.6 per cent in FY 23, more than 50 per cent above COL.
While COL also has its supermarkets, the performance of 'specialist' EDV is better in the directly comparable metric. EDV also just happens to be the market leader.
