Given stated price inflation of about five per cent, sales growth at Dan's and BWS has not matched that figure.

Effectively, sales are in decline. Perhaps interest rate rises are curbing the liquor purchasing habits of some Australians?

What we lack is up to date market share for Dan's/BWS v Coles Liquor, Metcash' Cellerbrations and other major retailers of the hard stuff.

Whatever, it is another attack point for Bruce Mathieson Snr, BM Jnr and William (Bill) Wavish as they engage in an OK Corral-type gunfight at 50 paces tomorrow with EDV Directors. While Mr Wavish is extremely unlikely to be elected, my guess is he will nonetheless attract a substantial number of votes, way beyond the 15 per cent holding that Bruce Mathieson Snr enjoys.
