    You probably bought a little more (in order to get over $100) to get the rebate. Marketing psychologists know that. ... and we as customers tell ourselves "we needed it anyway" (also known as post-purchase justification).

    As for EDV, it means somewhat more turnover achieved withr a little less in GPM. ... and it also (if one doesn't order online) gets the customer in for browsing for more or other stuff. (I find browsing at Dan's enjoyable - just saying

    In the end, they need to move the stock from the shelves as they have borrowings to pay. There is a pivot point here: a) quicker turnover of goods, but a little less in GPM; and b) more GPM (i.e. no rebates or higher prices) and the stuff can stay longer on the shelves. Pathway a means more work for the company, pathway b means less work. Best of both worlds would be the combination of faster turnover speed of goods with an increased GPM. - But alas with the cost of living pressures, EDV is surely on path a.
