Inertia is a powerful force. You would be surprised at how provincial many of my fellow Americans are. Only 40% have a passport and 10% have never traveled outside of the state where they were born. I sincerely doubt if the majority of my countrymen could locate Australia on a map.
That said it is easy to get approval to trade foreign shares if one desires to do so.
I had my wife (maths major) calculate the premium to buy FBR on the US OTC as compared to the ASX. Based on current pricing the premium I would pay to buy in the US is...wait for it... 29%
