We may have a first mover advantage but we could potentially be competing in a crowded market a few years down the line.

Directed evolution has been around for yonks as a way to achieve a phenotype. The paper above is an example of it’s use in vaccinia strains for oncolytic potential. I believe that IMU have first mover advantage of many years as other’s suggest. The patent requires at least 35% difference in the viral genome compared with CF33 plus a moat of other patents around the approach.
