Thought it might be worth mentioning that the portable gas chromatograph mass spectrometer that I used to work with actually required "tuning" and is a very important, sophisticated and expensive bit of equipment. It wasn't the only bit of equipment that needed tuning. The insanely smart developers, who are perhaps even smarter than you Angry did not feel the need to use a bit more science lingo and found tune to be acceptable.
