If people are worried about sovereign risk in SA, ABP's presence as a JMS shareholder will actually be helpful to us. It is Dutch government-run and the largest pension fund in the Netherlands.
I can easily see the Dutch government using diplomatic pressure if the SA government does something crazy.
This is not simply speculation, I have previously worked with financial institutions linked to a number of European governments on mining situations in Africa.
