Its not $7.5m of funding for ION.
there is federal funding, and this will benefit ION's development ambitions. A contribution of $200k p.a for 5 years is required by ION as a participant in the initiative, which will likely be refunded through R&D tax credits.
This has been telegraphed for a while, probably in part why it is not price sensitive.
