From the distance the image was taken it is difficult to answer your questions in regards to the Husqvarna bench saw. It would help if the photo had a visible length of core sample set up to see how they have supported the core etc. What is evident is there are boxes with broken and cut lengths of core of which is normal.
Wearing long sleeve shirts and gloves can be a hazard around rotating machinery, I am happy with his eye protection and hearing protection.
If you could email this to Matt Suttling at GPP that would be better as I do not have the information available to help you with these query's.
