I've always hoped that an oat milk with protein supplement would be a change in gear for DCF.
There has been a big shift in the last 5 years from soy milk to oat milk, but soy is still the go-to for protein rich non-dairy drink. Oat Up has good taste but it's such a crowded market now there is no reason it can win against the competition. The packaging isn't great, it's not cheap, and it has lost the barista wars (MilkLab have nailed it here).
Where WOA can make a difference and add significant value is with a protein supplemented version. The quantities on Buntine required will be relatively small and can be supplied by the new German plant and/or pilot plant. A high sale price and better margins will be more achievable because the product will have a key differentiator. Some new packaging design would also be nice. It can't wait for a WA plant to be built, it needs to happen asap. Feels like it's been on the cusp of "sales" for a long time.
Without Buntine I think the oat milk is dead, but with Buntine it may be salvageable and even turn into a good profit centre. Let's hope they can nail it on multiple fronts in the next year, make or break time now
