what some forget is that gold is rising and as fiat money printing continues to debase .

all the easy low hanging fruit -near surface high grade was picked decades ago. And those who are now digging beneath old shallow mines for depth extensions save a lot of time and money than greenfield exploration.

so if you can be reasonably close enough to surface to keep your costs down , a modest grade , and a commodity going to go on steroids , a growing resource, you are going to be mineable . IMO
the old adage was that you needed 1 M oz to justify building plant . some years ago. But smaller niche operators can become feasible when the margins are good enough . Rising gold price explodes margins .

it really comes down to what your capex is likely to be, and how many times over that you stand to reap the Net cash flow returned
