It's first pass systematic exploration. Deep drilling isn't cheap and the target is 8.2kms long under unknown cover. They now have some idea of whats down there and will be able to target much better. Going deeper would have been just having a stab in the dark. Would you prefer they just keep drilling to 1000m and blow all the budgeted DD metres on 2 holes, rather than spread it out to get a grasp on the structures.
I'm sure they did hope for a discovery hole of 100m of >5g/t Au and 1% Cu but that's a rare occurrence even with ground that is responsive to Geophysics, outcropping and with >20km's of systematic drilling helping to point you in the right direction. It took >20yrs to find Telfer Deeps at ~1000m deep and thats basically just a depth extension of a huge outcropping deposit.
These things take time and every hole tells you something..............
