The '2 million dollar director' isn't on two million a year.
Yes his wage increases in aud due to currency exchange but Hzn deals in USD. Therefore it is best for HZN to pay in USD so his wage is consistent with the currency hzn is payed in.
Secondly, in USD he has taken a $400,000 cut this financial year. Collectively all the directors equal two million usd.
