Nice start to the day. Hope we don't see a drift down over the course of the day as has been common recently. If gold stabilises/moves back up, NCM will be in a good position. Staff cuts and other expenditure cuts will see a leaner, more profitable NCM. Also, recent turbulence in the gold sector is more likely to 'shake out' explorers/small producers than large companies like NCM (with plenty of reserves and differing-cost operations).
As to the US Economy, recent data isn't as rosy is at seems. Labor Force participation has decreased making jobless claims misleading. Also QE, has a LAG. People seem to be discounting this. Economic theory dictates that an increase in the money supply usually takes a good 12 months to filter through the economy. So even if QE stops now, its effects will still be permeating through the economy. Inflation may still be brewing, but QE is really a 'black swan' event in terms of monetary economics... time will tell...
