Honestly it's the standard playbook for apologies like these. Like when the morning radio show host is forced to apologise for some bigoted remarks. Rather than address the community he targeted and withdraw his actual views, he will just apologise to the 'snowflakes' that got offended, effectively putting the onus for the whole drama on them. The words are worth less than nothing but the statement ticks the box. This only happens because they lost the argument.
