Come on now, I doubt FPA's marketing costs as a % of sales is out of line with it's peers. Far far to early to expect much out of China, that is going to be a long term investment, to be judged by the decade, not the year imho.
Closing the Italian factory may not be an option. European countries often have the ways and the means of making this a difficult option.
You've got to give any company the credit for evaluating these matters with much more info than we do from the armchair.
Some things take 5 or 10 years, from making a change to getting obvious bottom line results. I see the refocus on leveraging the motor technology, Haier distribution and entry into the Chinese market in this light, as I do new product development.
