So I've been reading a number of papers published in the US about burn related hospital admission costs ect the date ranges of the studies varies from 2016 to 2019.

Numbers are USA only

Burn victim yearly totals range between 400,000 to 550,000
Hospitalisation of those ranges from 40,000 to 55,000
Burn related infections of those hospitalised (skin only) ranges from 30%, 1 in 3 (33%), 45% 55% (varies widely from paper to paper)
Infection related cost of those hospitalised ranges from $58,000 to $120,000
Burn related deaths in hospital 1200 to 10,000

Obviously the studies were conducted over different patient numbers, locations ect so the numbers will vary widely and things like Infection costs in the high end include the additional costs of amputation and wound excitation.

With the above in mind I would like to have a guesstimate on the yearly USA Infection treatment costs, so let's go with the low end of everything.
40,000 people admitted yearly minus 10,000 dead (too much work to dive in and see if they died due to infection so they will be excluded) of which 30% developed a burn treatment related Infection costing an additional $58,000
((40,000-10,000)x0.3)×$58,000 = $522,000,000 per year conservatively


What do you think our burn spray be worth to reduce this cost?

Do you think the hospitals would simply use it on all 40,000 hospitalised patients as a preventative measure before Infection sets in rather then a cure ?
