Here are some important aspects to consider that may not be obvious from the release:
(1) Wehave previously shown that Nasodine kills the SARS-CoV-2 virus in vitro, i.e., in a laboratory setting. However, invitro results very often do not translate to clinical results in humans. The current study confirms that the effect does translate in vivo for Nasodine, which is an importantfinding.
(2) It is also important to appreciate that we were assessing viral load, not just in the nose, but also the throat. We believed it was important to show clearance of virus from the entire upper respiratory tract and not just the nasal passages. This made the outcome more challenging, but Nasodine did not disappoint.
(3) As stated in the release, COVID-19 won’t be the last global pandemic. Nasodine is a broad-spectrum nasal spray that kills all viruses, and enveloped viruses (all pandemic viruses are enveloped) are acutely sensitive to Nasodine. Therefore, we believe Nasodine will play a crucial role in the next pandemic, because it will be active against any pandemic virus and it does lead to viral resistance.
