If there are problems operationally then the new MD is going to have a hard time excusing himself from them and placing those issues on the outgoing MD when he's been COO.
I suspect there's been some conflict internally, either from determining the direction of the company or its operational priorities and the board has decided to go with the side MA wasn't on, hence "mutual agreement". Although, I will say that termination checklists these days include updating linkedIn and other social media accounts so, to me, it looks more like MA was walked out the door. But who knows..?
As for the recent NED's leaving, they seem to have been MA's employs and after seeing the writing on the wall regarding MA have decided not to tough this one out.
This is all a wild opinion with no substantiated facts so pls take it as such.
