Good that Greg responded but feel it's a bit much that he strains to point out that roads were not mentioned as being what the trial would be done on:

"Whilst it refers to roads as an example, it does not state, nor was it intended to mean, that it would certainly be tested on a road"

It did mention in the same announcement that:

"Road and bridges in areas that are subject to heavy snowfall and where snow ploughs are used to clear the roads for example, suffer severe abrasion and damage to the road surfaces, requiring frequent repairs and are the initial target market."

So if they are the initial target market why not conduct a trial involved with it?

    The market size is there:

"In the United States alone, there are some 89,000kms of concrete paved roads and bridges, with an annual US$40 billion maintenance bill so nano-enriched concrete has a real value-add market opportunity to reduce these impacts while delivering a lighter, stronger material."

    Again from the same announcement:

"The initial commercial trials of the CNT enriched concrete will be undertaken on hardened surfaces such as roads which do not carry the same risks as concrete used in high rise construction."

So the initial target market is roads, this market is huge, the trials will be on hardened surfaces like roads but silly us for taking that it would actually be on a road!

So to Greg's first line of his response, no, a gravel bin test is not comparable to a road way. Gravel bins are not a multi billion dollar market.
