im not sure if it adds anything but i have seen information that relates to gut bacteria and its potential to affect health if it is distrupted or destroyed. I have been following with interest for developments good or bad in this area. I got the impression in sepsis the treatment is in blood so there shouldnt be bacteria there maybe not an issue. If the stuff gets into gut however it could cause more issues as it seems bacteria is necessary there wherever it comes from. Much of the research i read was more to do with child development and autism type issues and there were possible links with early use of antibiotics in children causing developmental issues. So much so that a recent area of research garnering some interest is the seemingly bizzare procedure of fecal matter transfer where healthy donor sample (with multi bacteria or whatever included) is transferred to a patient to help repair the balance of "beneficial bacteria"
