I was speaking to a friend recently who is familiar with tailings filter presses who said that the Italian ones are the best and that Matec is the leading distributor in Italy. Interestingly, the Italians used to use similar presses for filtering wine and over time these same techniques were adapted to other applications.

Apparently, filter presses often require a lot of fine tuning over time since small changes in the initial feed material during testing and with the actual material when the mine is running can have large implications for the performance of the filter press.
