The announcement by FGR of the appointment of Andy Goodwin has strengthened a lot of areas in the small but growing organisation - and right at a time that there's a lot going on in the background. There's a graphene factory being built in Perth, a BEST Battery prototype taking shape at Swinburne Uni of Technology in Melbourne, a graphene-based fire retardant being readied for final testing in Adelaide, and there's heaps more too.
In the long termer's group that many of us belong to, and where we share and discuss many things that would only attract the detractors and spammers to HC if we tried to post them here, we are aware of quite a few very interesting, and some pretty advanced projects that might soon make a few more watchers sit up.
It's quite amazing the picture you can put together, the information that can be brought into the light, when seriously focussed FGR investors cooperate to draw together clues dropped by management in presentations, with YouTube videos posted by researchers on the other side of the globe, as they compare FGR material with graphene samples from competitors - to see which performs better for their particular application. And when you hear them exclaim, at the end of the test of the FGR material, "Wow, fantastico" Maybe FGR may soon have another announcement to make?
About ten months ago, I travelled to the FGR annual meeting in Sydney (Nov 21, 2016). I went to ask several questions posed by posters here, and to check out the directors and management. I reported back on these threads ("Annual meeting notes" - you can find the series of posts by typing the thread title into the search box top left), giving the answers by the directors to all those questions. The response on HC to my notes amazed me, and indicated there was a thirst for information and knowledge that was not being met.
Another poster asked that I get in touch so we could discuss a few things "off air". When I gave an email contact, a couple of others joined in. We soon decided to set up a group email for any others with similar issues. Well, it was never my intention at the start, but the group now has over 40 long termers aboard, and together represents 9.35% of FGR shareholders. Some of our members are in the top 20, some have less than 100,000 shares. They are all believers in graphene, and they are all respectful and helpful to each other. It's been very useful to a lot of FGR holders who had found it difficult to obtain information, apart from HC (and that can be tricky).
The main focus of the "long termers" group is to help members get their questions answered, and generally learn more about their investment. We are able to share stuff among ourselves that is difficult to discuss on HC, including some "nitty gritty" things that would only attract the dark side if aired here.
Some of our group are absolute experts at delving into the deepest recesses of the internet to find videos from researchers that have only ever been viewed a handful of times. It's a way to learn of things that are not yet publicly available, but which could have a significant effect on our FGR investment. Sharing this stuff has been helpful to us all.
We are also aiming to help FGR become better at announcements, website, shareholder engagement, PR etc - we think that we have already seen some small improvements following our discussions with the chairman, The website, for example, has had a makeover coincidental to our urgings, but there's still plenty that could be done to improve it,
There are of course many other areas of the companies activities that can also benefit from helpful suggestions. Most individual holders feel pretty constrained - usually lobbing grenades from the sidelines. On the other hand, if you are part of a group that represents a fair sized holding, you might be able to be part of far more constructive help.
So. if you think you would like to be part of our FGR "long termers group", we'd like to hear from you.
- If you have a belief in the "Graphene Revolution"
- If you would like to keep up to date with graphene developments
- If you are a genuine long termer invested in FGR (sorry, no traders).
- If you want to learn more about FGR and it's people
- If you want to see better shareholder engagement, better announcements, an improved website, better PR and marketing
- If you want to join a group supportive of the company, and that helps it to be the best it can be, in all areas.
then please get in touch, through the email contact in the signature below. You don't need to be a regular poster. We do have a very few conditions - nothing hard. The key attribute is respect for one another. This is a very special group that has evolved, and we are happy to have more.
