"BHP has warned the Albanese government’s proposed same job same pay laws will cost the mining giant up to $1.3bn annually, and could cause labour hire demand to “drop off a cliff”.
The “same job, same pay” policy is designed to crack down on worker exploitation by labour hire firms and is a key plank of Labor’s second wave of industrial relations changes to be introduced later this year.
“If rushed through without consideration of its broad-reaching economic consequences, Same Job Same Pay will discourage enterprise bargaining, drive inflation, undermine productivity, threaten jobs and undermine the Government’s recent bargaining reforms, which have not yet had a chance to take effect” BHP said in a statement on Monday..."
