Hypothetically and mathematically, that is correct.
That only holds true if you're purchasing all your extra shares at 0.5c.
Now imagine someone bought 300,000 at 3c. Then bought 300,000 at 2c. Then 300,000 at 1c thinking it was cheap. This is most likely what all those 'topping up' posters were doing.
