If we read the announcement regarding the progress of the ASO program in the context of the collaboration with the Centre for Comparative Genomics do we get a different picture?
It would appear to be a little ho hum - in light of the history of many previous programs - if its all just in-house. We have seen that movie before. However, what if its the outcome of a world-class scientific endeavour.
Lets not forget the contribution of Dr Robert Hayes whose legacy as CSO is being built upon in a number of programs. I note that Hayes records 'improvements in screening (automation) and complex bioinformatics' as one of his successes including the identification of CPPs which can carry antisense oligonucleotides to modulate gene expression.
Phylogica is clouded by its past. The market factors in a high probability for failure. If the same results had been achieved by Sarepta would the market have factored in a high probability for success? Quite a nice segue back to the quality of the collaboration.
